Standing on a TEDx stage is always an honor.
But standing on that stage in Zimbabwe alongside my son, Brandon — was something else entirely.
We have long returned from speaking at TEDxChinotimba, and I’m still soaking in every joyful, grounding, perspective-shifting moment.
Sharing that experience with my son made it profoundly meaningful. It reminded me, in the most personal way possible, that joy really does multiply when you share it.
What made the experience bittersweet was grieving the loss of my only sister from across the world—unable to return home for her funeral—while knowing that these ten days with my son were a one-time moment I would never get back.

Why I Stopped Managing Time and Started Managing Values
For years, I did what many of us are taught to do: manage every minute, optimize every hour, and hustle harder in the name of productivity. On paper, it worked. In reality, it left me exhausted, disconnected, and stuck in a cycle of time poverty.
That’s why this TEDx talk is so personal.
In it, I explore a radical—but deeply practical—shift: replacing time management with values management. Because the truth is, you don’t need more hours in the day. You need greater clarity about what truly deserves your time.
When everything feels urgent, meaning gets lost in the mayhem.
Lessons from the Stage — and Safari
Between rehearsals and powerful conversations with fellow speakers, Brandon and I made time to explore Zimbabwe’s extraordinary beauty. One moment stands out vividly: watching elephants roam freely on safari.
There was no rushing.
No checking the time.
Just presence, awe, and connection.
That experience brought my work full circle. This is why I do what I do—not just to help people work smarter, but to help them live fully, connect deeply, and choose meaning over motion.
From Time Poverty to Time Wealth
As the creator of the Busy Busting Framework, I help professionals escape burnout by addressing the root cause of overload—not with hacks or hustle, but with clarity.
In this talk, I share research-backed strategies to help you:
- Break free from chronic busyness
- Reduce cognitive overload and decision fatigue
- Reclaim focus for high-meaning work
- Design a life with more intention—and far less mayhem
Achieving more by doing less isn’t about slowing down.
It’s about aligning your time with your values.
A Question Worth Sitting With
This TEDx experience—sharing the stage, traveling with my son, standing still long enough to truly see the world—reinforced something I know to be true:
Meaning doesn’t come from managing time better.
It comes from choosing what matters most—and protecting it.

And I’ll leave you with the same question I’m still reflecting on myself:
What would change in your life if you stopped managing your time—and started managing your values instead?
If this message resonated, I’d be grateful if you’d like, comment on, or share the TEDx video on YouTube—it helps the idea travel to others who may be navigating their own mayhem.
If this sparked something for you, there’s more to explore.
