Busyness is an addiction
According to the American Psychiatric Association an addiction is a compulsion, an itch that must be scratched. Addictive behavior causes us to eliminate things we would otherwise be doing and affects us on both a personal and professional level. On a personal level it shows up as lack of self-care, time with friends or doing the things you love and ultimately leads to stress fatigue and burnout. On a professional level it results in loss of engagement, productivity and strategic work that drive bottom line metrics.
As a busyness addict in recovery —I help high-performing professionals escape time poverty and reclaim clarity, energy, and purpose.
